FIREFIGHTERS tackled an area of heath that was alight near Ferndown on Friday night.

Crews were called at 8.33pm to the fire, near to Brabourne Avenue.

The fire crew requested the help of Ferndown station’s Land Rover and beaters and hoses were used to put out the flames, which covered an area 20m by 20m.

Firefighters remained in attendance for some time to dampen down the area.

The fire is believed to have been started deliberately, a spokesman for Dorset Fire and Rescue Service said.
