TWO young women were taken to hospital after a four-vehicle crash.

The collision happened on the A35 at Bloxworth, near Bere Regis, just after 11am yesterday morning.(Mon) Police officers closed the road as emergency services worked and recovery was arranged for the vehicles.

Police have launched an investigation into the crash and took witness statements at the scene.

A spokesman for the ambulance service said they were called at 11.05am to the A35 at Bloxworth to a four-vehicle road traffic collision.

A spokesman said there were six casualties - four walking wounded, including a 50-year-old man with minor injuries, and two young women with head and leg injuries.

A spokesman said: “Two land ambulances and the air ambulance helicopter and two rapid responses cars were sent. There were two casualties – the two young women in the Mini. They had minor injuries and were taken to Dorset County Hospital in Dorchester as a precaution.”

Dorset Police also attended the scene and closed the road by Woodbury Cross. Traffic was moving slowly around the crash site.

A spokesman for the police service said that the incident involved a blue Vauxhall Corsa registered to a Wool woman, a blue VW Passat registered to a Birmingham company, a grey Mini Cooper registered to a Weymouth woman and a white lorry registered to a Portland company.

Speaking at the scene, Sergeant Mark Scannell, from Dorset Police, told the Echo: “Two people received injuries in the crash and were taken to Dorset County Hospital by paramedics.

“It is believed the injuries are not life-threatening at this stage.

“An investigation has been launched into the collision and will be on-going, and we have collected a number of witness statements as there were quite a few motorists who saw the crash.”
