The Sandbanks Ferry has been transformed into a pirate ship for the day, Dorset Police HQ are holding a bake sale, Santander and Fitness First in Bournemouth are pulling faces to help raise cash, Consolor Limited in Poole are doing face painting and Roz has gone to work dressed in her onesie.

Little kids from Old Town First School used facepaints and got creative with the support of managers and check-out staff from Sainsbury’s, on Pitwines Close.

Kirsty Perks, who works at the store, said: “The kids went mad and thought it was really funny to paint the staff’s faces. We also had a tombola, bookstall and pop-up selfie stand.

“They also helped us to sell Red Noses, which meant that we sold out, with all money raised for Comic Relief from our store going to local causes.”

At the Ferndown store of Sainsbury’s, which is the official retailer of Red Noses and other RND merchandise, staff took part in a Strictly Come Dancing-style flashmob, offered face painting and manager, Richard Lockett, donned a mohican.

While at their Talbot Heath branch, they hosted a photo booth and face painting to entertain customers.

Pupils from West Moors Middle School dressed up in red, sold Red Nose cakes and got the chance to put their teachers, including head teacher, Cindy Pritchard, in the stocks and threw cold, wet sponges to collect funds.

Helen Wakeford, a teaching assistant at the school, said: “We have done really well and threw wet sponges for an hour, as opposed to the original half an hour that we set.

“The slogan for Comic Relief was ‘Do Something Funny for Money’ and our children definitely found it hilarious to throw wet sponges at the teachers and head teacher.

“We have raised £248 in total, which makes all the wet clothes worthwhile.”

At Canford Chase care home in Branksome, residents were entertained by Tommy Cooper impersonator, Clive Greenaway during an hour-long show, following his new world record for telling 26 jokes in one minute.

Colten Care’s Amberwood House care home in Ferndown held their own version of Britain’s Got Talent and Avon Cliff care home in Bournemouth had a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party with hats, games, quizzes and live music.

Platinum Business Centre and Platinum Property Partners took part in a bike relay to cover the 605-miles distance from Land’s End to John O’Groats, which raised over £570 towards their £1,000 target.

Staff from Dorset Police’s recruitment and organisational development team wore red clothes and made cakes in exchange for £229 in donations to Comic Relief, while employees at Fitness First in Bournemouth had a fun photo booth and cake sale.

Dental Design in Poole saw staff have their faces painted and Coles Miller Solicitors on Parkstone Road held their own Great British Bake Off competition and wore fancy dress for the day.
