THE voice is back, as the legendary Tom Jones will be belting out all his classics to help celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Larmer Tree Festival this summer.

The first line-up was announced this lunchtime and takes place from July 15-19 in the stunning grounds of Larmer Tree Gardens on the Wiltshire/Dorset border.

Following an electrifying opening performance last year, the star of the BBC’s The Voice is back to kick things off on the Wednesday night by headlining the Main Stage.

Tom Jones told the Daily Echo: “The energy of the crowd and unique atmosphere of Larmer Tree Festival in 2014 was wonderful. It’s a great pleasure to be returning for the festival’s 25th anniversary and to perform on the opening night once again.”

The festival was founded by Festival Director James Shepard in the summer of 1990.

“This being the 25th time I’ve programmed the festival, the pressure was really on to produce ‘the best line-up yet’ and when I scan the list of international stars who’ll be appearing this year I really feel like all my birthdays have come at once,” says James Shepard, Festival Director.

This year will see the return of many favourite acts throughout the years. These include bands such as Bellowhead, Levellers, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Show Of Hands and many more. Closing the festival on Sunday night, Jimmy Cliff completes the festival’s headline line-up.

With a career spanning nearly 50 years, and playing tracks from his celebrated 2012 album, Rebirth, Cliff promises to deliver an unforgettable set of popular reggae to leave the audience on fine form for the last night of the five-day party.

The Larmer Tree Festival prides itself on supporting local and emerging talent, and runs their annual Breakthrough Music Awards competition to provide a platform for up and coming artists, with the prize being the chance to play at the festival.

Drew Allen, one of last year’s finalists and Bournemouth Daily echo unsigned winner will play at the festival this summer following an exciting 12 months which saw him supporting James Blunt.

Also Bournemouth based musician Wesley Bennett was booked after having been spotted playing in a local café and festivalgoers can look forward to hearing his acoustic folk set in July.
