A Brit Award, a modelling contract, a marriage proposal, a partnership with Gary Barlow, not to mention a platinum album and UK arena tour – it’s been a busy 12 months for Paloma Faith.

Fresh from her British female solo artist award win at this year’s BRITS, everyone’s favourite eccentric singer songwriter will be finding time in her hectic schedule for a visit to Bournemouth tomorrow evening.

The 33-year-old will be showcasing tracks from her A Perfect Contradiction album, a new edition of which was released in November, featuring five new tracks.

Despite hailing from Hackney, Paloma is no stranger to the south coast, having previously performed at Wave 105 Live! the Larmer Tree Festival and Bestival on the Isle of Wight.

And fans can expect another dramatic performance from the star, who admits she likes to emulate her idols on stage.

“Gigs are full of light and shade,” she previously said.

“My biggest inspirations are probably Marilyn Monroe and Marlene Dietrich.

“I think it’s not enough to just stand on stage and sing the song, you have to do extra, whether it be physically moving around and giving depth to the song physically or giving a more physically emotional performance.”

The singer is famed for her retro style and may soon be strutting her stuff down a posh catwalk, after signing with Select Model Management in December.

It’s clearly a coup for someone as enthusiastic about fashion as she is.

“I love the way Coco Chanel dressed,” she said.

“There’s also Bjork and Grace Jones. And I love designers like Dolce and Gabbana, I keep wearing them. Alexander McQueen I think is incredible, I love all the high-end stuff like Jean Paul Gautier.

“And I think Piers Atkinson and Victoria Grant are amazing.”

Aside from her foray into the fashion world, Paloma will be keeping busy on the music front too. She has signed up to take part in Forestry Live, a summer music tour set in woodland settings belonging to the Forestry Commission, and is also reported to be working on versions of Take That frontman Gary Barlow’s songs for the Finding Neverland musical soundtrack.

For someone who once lied to record labels about her age because she thought she was too old to get signed, she hasn’t done too badly.

“It’s a really strange industry as at the end of the day, not that much talent breaks through,” she told Seven Days’ sister publication The Daily Echo.

“It makes me feel grateful for what I’ve got and what I’ve achieved – obviously I’ve worked bloody hard for it but I think there’s a certain combination of hard work, perseverance and a little sprinkling of luck.”

So what’s next on the agenda for the singer, who recently made a competition winner and fan’s day when she proposed to his partner of 13 years via video for him on Valentine’s Day?

She’s clearly ready for a new challenge.

“I learn new things everyday,” she has admitted.

“If you go through life not learning it’s a bit weird.”
