POLICE are calling for anyone with information about a six-vehicle crash on one of Bournemouth’s busiest roads to come forward.

Officers are investigating the collision, which happened on Saturday (FEB28) at around 12.15pm on the southbound carriageway of the A338.

The vehicles involved in the crash were a BMW, Renault, Fiat, Mazda, Volkswagen and Vauxhall. The driver of the Fiat, driver and passenger in the BMW and driver and passenger in the Volkswagen suffered minor injuries.

The road was closed around 12.30pm and reopened just before 1.30pm.

PC Mark Palmer, of Dorset Police’s Traffic Unit, said: “It was necessary to close the road to ensure the safe extraction of a woman from one of the vehicles.

“An officer was deployed at Blackwater junction to assist with a diversion and one lane was reopened as soon as possible to ease congestion.

“It appears the curiosity of some motorists added to the build-up of traffic and increased delays along the route.

“I am appealing for any witnesses to the collision or to the manner of driving of any of the vehicles prior to the incident to contact me on 101. All calls will be dealt with in strict confidence.”

No arrests have been made.

Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 101 quoting incident number 28:190.
