A BOURNEMOUTH takeaway’s bid to extend its opening hours is being opposed by police.
Ali Baba takeaway in Commercial Road is currently allowed to trade until 4am on Friday and Saturday and 3am on Sunday, and has previously received a warning about staying open any later.
The owner Maly Marnani is now hoping to stay open for an additional hour on each of these nights, to cater for the late-night pub and club trade.
But Dorset Police is objecting to the request because the business is in the town’s cumulative impact area, which means there is a presumption against new applications being granted unless businesses can prove they will not cause additional problems.
The application will go before Bournemouth’s licensing committee on Thursday, March 5.
