FIREFIGHTERS suspect arson is behind a small fire at a block of flats in West Howe this morning.
Crews from Redhill and Westbourne were called at 6.18am after reports of a smell of smoke in Lydford Road.
A further call informed the service of a fire in the first floor corridor.
Two sets of breathing apparatus and a hose was used to extinguish the fire, which destroyed a rug and caused some smoke damage to the communal corridor.
A spokesperson from the Dorset Fire and Rescue Service said: "This incident is believed to have been deliberate.
"Crews liaised with police on scene."
