A NEIGHBOURHOOD Watch scheme that was under threat is set to continue after fresh offers of help came forward.

As reported, the Verwood, Three Legged Cross and Woodlands Neighbourhood Watch held an Extraordinary General Meeting in a bid to drum up support to keep it going.

The meeting was well-attended and now more people have come forward to volunteer as co-ordinators.

Verwood’s PCSO Robin Morgan made clear to the meeting how important the watch was to the community, to the police force and particularly to the more vulnerable residents who are not on email. Anyone can register with Dorset Alert to get a warning notification by email or recorded phone message if they so wish, but the meeting heard that neighbourhood contacts were vital to look after immediate neighbours.

Anyone wishing to be on the committee and help administer the Verwood watch scheme should contact either the chairman, Simon Gibson, on 01202 820822, or vice chairman Alan Pearce on 01202 828367.

Registering for the Dorset Alert scheme can be done on line or by completing the appropriate form, which will be made available in the Town Council office and the library.
