A TEAM of Post Office employees have been immortalised as comic book heroes following their super fundraising efforts for BBC Children in Need.

The Westbourne Wonders received a commemorative one-off comic book cover in recognition for their heroic charity efforts during last year’s charity appeal.

The cover, which features the team dressed in super hero outfits, has taken pride of place at the Seamoor Road branch.

Jean Simms, branch manager, said: “The team here were thrilled to receive this award and be recognised as the Post Offices’ official Westbourne Wonders.

“We always look at ways of making customers’ visits enjoyable and memorable, and for charity events like Children In Need we like to go all out to make it as much fun for them, and us, as possible.”

To support last year’s appeal Jean and her colleagues Nick Fitzgerald, Mike Brewer, Rachel Rose, Kelly Way, Peter High and Fiona Smith raised hundreds of pounds by dressing up as superheroes and baking an abundance of cakes to sell to customers.

Jean added: “The customers here at Westbourne look forward to the staff dressing up and putting on some kind of show for them. Each year gets bigger and better so watch this space next year.”

Post Office chief executive Paula Vennells said: “We wanted to recognise the amazing work that heroes across the Post Office network do for BBC Children in Need every year, and this seemed like the perfect way to do it.

“Not many people can say they are the stars of their very own comic.”
