A MAN who launched a “cowardly” attack on his ex-partner in front of their nine-year-old son has been sent to prison for 10 months.

Steven Dullam threw Stacey Jackson on to a glass table, dragged her into another room and threw her on to a sofa, Bournemouth Crown Court was told.

Prosecutor Stuart Ellacott said Dullam threw a coffee cup at her, struck her on the face and wrenched a child gate from a wall during the sustained assault in Ms Jackson’s Bournemouth home on November 28.

And he said the attack only came to an end when their son screamed at his dad to stop and police were called.

Judge John Harrow heard Dullam, 33, was jailed for two years in 2011 for breaking Ms Jackson’s jaw.

Mr Ellacott said Dullam had become jealous because he believed Ms Jackson was spending too much time with another man, the father of her young daughter.

Sentencing him, Judge Harrow said: “It is time you learned that when you commit a cowardly assault on anyone then you can expect to go to prison.

“You were jealous and your reaction was to set about her.

“It was a very shocking and traumatic experience for her – in her own home she was vulnerable.”

Defending, Robert Grey said Dullam had pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity and added: “He very much regrets the incident.”

Dullam, of Heytesbury Road, Southbourne, was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £100 and given an indefinite restraining order.
