A BIGAMIST took his first wife to a dance competition hours after allegedly murdering his second wife, a court has heard.

CCTV footage captured Pierre Legris and Irene Smith walking hand-in-hand through Watford less than 24 hours after the death of Poole nurse Rui Li, prosecutors allege.

The images, which were yesterday shown to jurors, are purported to show Pierre Legris and Irene Smith visiting a Ceroc dance event in the town on May 24, 2014 before the two returned to her home in St Clement’s Road, spending the night together, it is claimed.

The images allegedly show the couple returning to Smith’s flat in St Clement's Road, Boscombe, at 9.04pm.

Footage of a man, claimed to be Pierre Legris, showed him leaving the flat at 7.12am the following day, Sunday, May 25.

Prosecutors allege that Pierre Legris killed second wife Ms Li at their home in Burnham Drive on the evening of Friday, May 23, before wrapping her body in a waterproof sheet and stashing it in the back of a Transit van.

The last known footage of Ms Li was also shown to jurors.

The 44-year-old was seen at Tesco in Poole Road at approximately 7am on May 23, before she is then captured on CCTV in a Poole Hospital corridor shortly after 7.30am.

Her car – a distinctive silver Porsche Boxster – was then recorded on cameras as she left the hospital at around 6.15pm.

Investigators sorted through a total of 5,040 hours of CCTV footage before the trial began last Thursday.

Pierre Legris, 61, of Burnham Drive, denies murder but admits bigamy.

His first wife, 66-year-old Irene Smith, of St Clement’s Road, denies conspiracy to commit murder and two counts of perverting the course of justice.

Their son Jonathan Legris, 27, of Spring Road, denies conspiracy to commit murder and assisting an offender. The trial will continue on Friday.
