We've had a wild week of weather but the good news is it's set to stay dry if you're heading out and about this weekend.

Saturday is looking cloudy with sunny intervals in the afternoon and highs of 7C, while Sunday is chilly with highs of just 4C.

Get dirty

Runners will be tackling hills, trails, mud and water in the Dirty Devil Stampede on Saturday. The tough race takes place at Bovington Tank training ground with distances of  5k, 10k or 15k available. Participants can run individually or as a team of three. There are prizes available for the top five individuals and the winning team. Entry starts from £15 and places are still available here

Learn about otters

Stour Valley Nature Reserve will be holding an Otter Day on Saturday. Join the RSPB at the Stour Barn before you head out in search of the elusive creatures. Learn all about otters and make an otter crown. There will also be two otter themed walks to enjoy, one at 8am and another at 4pm. The event is free but booking is essential,  call 01929 556651. 

Catch a panto 

Miss out on a family panto over Christmas? There’s still time to catch one as the Highcliffe Charity Players’ present Robin Hood at the Regent Centre in Christchurch from Saturday. It runs for ten performances including three matinees, a mid-morning and a tea time ‘meet the cast’ show, from January 17-24. Expect great sets and costumes, popular show songs, dazzling dance routines, slapstick humour and of course plenty of audience participation. Tickets are £9.50-£13.50 and profits go to local charities. 

Become a Swanage Pier volunteer

A volunteer recruitment day is taking place to Swanage Pier today from 10am to 2pm. The Swanage Pier Trust is an independent charity, funded by donations. With only two paid members of staff, the volunteers and annual members play an important role in welcoming visitors to the Pier. Roles include gate duty, painting and decorating, serving drinks and snacks in the cafe and general maintenance. 

Help clean the beach

A beach clean is taking place at Hamworthy Common on Saturday at 11am. All volunteers are welcome. 

Discover the wonders of the Jurassic Coast

Learn about the wonders of the Jurrasic Coast and even have a go at building your own at Swanage’s Durlston Castle. A new exhibition, curated by the Jurassic Coast Team, promises to uncover many secrets of what is England’s only natural World Heritage Site. The exhibition is free and runs 10.30am-4pm each day until February 5.
