WILDLIFE presenter Chris Packham is to judge an annual amateur photographic competition showcasing the best of the New Forest.

The popular naturalist will be casting his expert eye over entries in a competition that is open to everyone.

Held at the Master Builder’s House Hotel in Buckler’s Hard, prizes are up for grabs in the contest which is spread over three months with a different category for each month.

In January the theme is Reflections in the New Forest exploring many of the national country park’s wonderful landscapes.

In February the focus is on the animals of the New Forest while March will be centred round the national park’s majestic trees.

Entries for each category must be in before the end of the relevant month.

The competition will award prizes to the best photograph in the category and then an overall winner will be chosen.

Entries must not have been placed in or won any other photographic competition. The awards ceremony will be held in April on a date to be confirmed.

The photographers from two entries of each category will be invited to attend, with substantial prizes to be won. Up to three photographs can be submitted for each category.

To enter the competition send photographs digitally to Jackie Neylon via events@-themasterbuilders.co.uk with a maximum 50-word description of the photograph and your name and full contact details.

Participants are asked to ensure the pictures are high resolution.
