Police in Bournemouth have identified a woman found in a confused state on Friday evening.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said they had identified the woman, who will shortly be returning home to Shrewsbury.

They thanked the public for their help, especially on social media.

The woman walked into the Royal Bournemouth Hospital on Castle Lane East at 5.49pm on Friday.

Officers described her as aged between 70 and 80 years old, 5ft 4ins tall, with grey hair and was wearing black jogging bottoms, a cream fleece, black shoes and was carrying a purse which contained money but no identification documents.

They released an image of her in a bid to track down anyone who might have information about the lady.

Chief Inspector Guy Shimmons, of Dorset Police, described her as “confused but otherwise in good spirits.”

It was thought she may have been walking for a long time and she didn’t have her medication with her.
