YOUNG children being treated at Poole Hospital were treated to a special festive visit from the stars of AFC Bournemouth.

Manager Eddie Howe took some of the members of his first team squad around the children’s ward at the hospital on Longfleet Road to hand out presents, sign autographs and have photos taken with their mini fans.

It was organised by Andy Rimmer, club chaplain, along with Kevin MacKenzie, children’s unit resource co-ordinator at the hospital as a surprise for the poorly kids to try and brighten up their day.

Andy Rimmer said: “It has been fantastic to see the players out and about in the community over the last few weeks.

“They have spent time with supporters young and old and brought them a lot of joy at this time of year.

“The annual visit to Poole Hospital is always important and it’s great to see that it remains an important date regardless of how the club has changed over the last few years.

“All the children, parents and staff on the ward enjoyed the visit and the whole club wishes them a Merry Christmas.”

Fans’ favourites including Yann Kermorgant, Steve Cook and Ryan Fraser were just a few of the players to meet patients and families on their annual visit.

Ken Mackenzie, children’s unit resource co-ordinator, said: “It’s great when the team make a visit and meet some of their supporters, both the children and their parents.

“You see a lot of happy faces. It’s a fantastic occasion and we look forward to next year.”
