A MAN grieving over his brother’s death returned home to find that heartless burglars had broken in.

Michael Cherrett, 22, had spent a few days with his mum Suzanne after his brother Luke, 26, passed away from cancer on Monday.

On Thursday night, he returned home to find that the house where he and his 14-month-old daughter live in Victoria Road, Springbourne, had been broken into.

Michael, a self-employed builder, said on Friday: “He [Luke] had cancer for three years and went downhill on Friday, he passed away on Monday.

“I went round to my mum’s to look after her, as she’s been a bit of a mess.

“When I got back someone had got into the house and taken my PlayStation, DVDs, games and the TV off the wall.

“My mum is absolutely distraught with what’s happened.

“Apparently there have been two other burglaries in my road over the last few days. It’s disgusting; they don’t know my situation, but I have a 14-month-old girl.

“When they looked through the door they would have seen her toys and the Christmas tree, I just think it’s sick.

“Obviously they didn’t know the situation with my brother, but they’ve seen that we have a little girl.”

Dorset Police confirmed that they attended Michael’s home on Thursday night and are investigating the burglary.

No arrests have yet been made.
