A woman was robbed in her Bournemouth home by four masked men.

The incident happened at around 2.30pm on Wednesday in Knyveton Road.

The victim, a 25-year-old woman, was alone in her flat at the time and heard a knock on the door. She opened the door because she was expecting a visit from a relative.

Four masked men entered the flat and pinned the victim down on the sofa, grabbing her around the mouth. They demanded money before searching the flat.

The offenders stole the victim’s iPhone, Apple MacBook and an Apple hands-free mouse before fleeing the scene.

The victim received scratches to her nose, bruises to her chest and a cut to her hand.

Detective Sergeant Helen Deakin, of Bournemouth CID, said: “This was a traumatic experience for the victim in the very place she should have felt safe. Investigations have revealed this was a case of mistaken identity.

“Witnesses have described seeing the offenders get into a silver Ford Fiesta, possibly an old 1995 model, and I am appealing to anyone who saw a vehicle matching this description to call me urgently.

“I am also appealing to anyone who may have seen the four offenders in the area at the time or has information as to who might have carried out this attack to get in contact.”

The offenders were described as wearing hooded tops with scarves around their faces.

Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 101, quoting incident number 26:194. Alternatively, call the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111 where mobile phone tariffs may apply.
