BRAZILIAN students preparing for customer care roles at the 2016 Olympics are receiving top-class training at the Bournemouth and Poole College.

The group of 10 Travel and Tourism students are undergoing 13 weeks training in all aspects of customer care at the college’s Lansdowne site in Bournemouth.

They were welcomed to the college by Sue Sharkey who said: “They are all enthusiastic to improve their knowledge of the tourism industry and learn more about the modern approach to customer care. These skills will be especially important with the Olympic Games fast approaching.

“It’s a real feather in the cap for the college too, as our International Department was chosen to pilot this scheme.”

In total 52 students from Brazil will study at five colleges across the UK. They will work alongside UK students, while following a bespoke course to improve their English and professional skills.

The programme was co-ordinated with the Association of Colleges, whose International Director John Mountford said: “The Bournemouth and Poole College has a strong international programme, and being able to host these students is a testament to the opportunities they provide, along with the strong community relationships, which will make the Brazilians feel at home.”

As part of their programme the students will organise a Brazilian themed evening in the college’s Escoffier Restaurant, sponsored by Pebble Beach restaurant.
