BEACH visitors will soon be able to enjoy stunning sea views at a brand new cafe at Bournemouth’s Durley Chine.

Almost £1m is to be invested into Durley Chine, replacing the current catering facility with a new beach office, public toilets and seafront cafe.

The Chineside building will make the most of its prime position with glazed concertina panels, which can fold open, and a sheltered first floor terrace.

Rob Shearman, who runs the current catering kiosk there, will operate the new cafe, takeaway, kiosk and shop.

He said: “I have been running the catering outlet at Durley Chine for the last 14 years and am delighted to be working with the council to offer customers a significantly improved facility with indoor seating for the first time.”

Demolition of the existing building is due to take place this month and Chineside should be open by next summer. The £900,000 development is part of Bournemouth council’s 20-year seafront strategy.

Cllr Lawrence Williams, cabinet member for tourism, leisure and culture, said: “Durley Chine provides the perfect environment for relaxation and dining in the beautiful surrounds of a Blue Flag beach, with Bournemouth Pier only a short walk away.

“This new development will enhance the look and feel of the area, offer visitors greater choice and provide a convenient location for public facilities, as well as creating local employment opportunities.”
