THE shamed mother of murderer Elliot Turner could be deported from the UK after trying to cover up her son’s horrific crime.

The Daily Echo understands a hearing is scheduled for next month to decide whether former Bournemouth jeweller Anita Turner should be ordered to return to her native Indonesia.

Her son, Elliot, is serving a life sentence for the brutal murder of student and aspiring model Emily Longley at his family’s home in Bournemouth in May 2011.

She and her husband, Leigh, were jailed for 27 months each after Winchester Crown Court heard they destroyed a confession note from their son and removed vital evidence from their home in Queenswood Avenue, Queens Park.

They were released after serving half of their sentences and have been living at the address where the murder took place ever since. Their business, RE Porter in Post Office Road, is now closed.

Emily was just 17 years old when Turner strangled her in his bed in a jealous rage. He will spend at least 16 years behind bars. He denied the crime and her family were forced to endure a long trial in Winchester, spending months away from their homes in New Zealand.

British-born Emily moved to New Zealand with her parents, Mark and Caroline, and younger sister Hannah when she was nine years old.

She often spent holidays with her grandparents in Southbourne and during one visit she signed up to a business course at Brockenhurst College and made the decision to study in the UK.

When asked about the deportation bid, Emily’s father, Mark Longley, said he was surprised but that the news gave him no joy.

He told the Daily Echo: “It’s just another added consequence of what her son, Elliot Turner, did.

“If he hadn’t murdered Emily all the subsequent things wouldn’t have happened either.”

Mr Longley told how he had expected compassion from the Turners at their son’s trial, as fellow parents, but found none.

“They were the ones whose house Emily died in and so I did expect some compassion but there was nothing from them.

“Anita Turner made us feel like it was our fault that her son killed our daughter, so I don’t have any compassion for her at all.

“If she gets deported, well they brought it on themselves really.

“They perverted the course of justice so she’s suffering the consequences now.”

There was no reply when they Daily Echo attempted to speak to Anita Turner at her home.
