GRITTERS will be out in rural areas tonight as the winter weather creeps in.

Temperatures are expected to drop this evening and the Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for fog in Dorset from 7pm tonight until 10am tomorrow.

Earlier today a spokesman for Dorset County Council tweeted: “Our gritters will be out from 8pm around Sherborne, Wimborne and Toller Down.” Temperatures are expected to fall to around 3C in major towns across the county in the early hours and lower in rural areas.

Fog is expected to hit the region this evening and tomorrow morning with motorists being advised of some potential disruption to travel.

A spokesman from the Met Office said: “Patchy fog is expected to form soon after dark on Monday across many parts of southern and central England, East Anglia and east Wales.

“The fog is expected to become quite widespread and locally dense and freezing during the evening with visibility reducing to less than 100 metres in places.

“The fog is likely to persist into Tuesday morning's rush hour across a swathe from east Wales across the Midlands into parts of East Anglia.”
