ARSONISTS are believed to be behind a car being severely damaged by fire in Bournemouth on Saturday night.

Dorset Fire and Rescue Service said that it received a call at 11.40pm with reports of a car on fire at Lydford Road, West Howe.

A crew from Redhill Park fire station was sent to the scene and when firefighters arrived they found that the car was well alight.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus put out the flames using two hoses and it was under control by around 12.10am.

A spokesman for Dorset Fire and Rescue Service said that the cause was thought to be malicious and the car was badly damaged.
