DEDICATED Cherries fans spent the night at Goldsands Stadium in a bid to get their hands on tickets for the Liverpool game next month.

Some fans have been waiting for hours at AFC Bournemouth's Goldsands Stadium, although club officials took pity on them in the rain and allowed them to spend the night inside.

They even opened the cafe to provide refreshments for the fans.

Around 2,200 tickets for the Capital One Club fixture will be available today.

Around 300 people were seen queuing for the tickets at the stadium this morning.

The club has set criteria for the purchase of the tickets with all ticketholders having to attend at least four games last season and this season.

Both home and away games count.

Life-long Cherries fan Chris Gibbs and his father, Liverpool supporter Rob Barron had been at the stadium since last night.

"This doesn't happen very often", Chris said.

"It's a big deal.

"It was a good atmosphere overnight. Everyone knew they would get a ticket so it was very relaxed.

"With how we are playing this season there is a lot of optimism for this game."

And Jonathan Waddington-Jones, from Bournemouth, queued to buy a ticket for his eight-year-old son.

He had come prepared with a tent and camping gear tp brave the elements.

"There must have been about 50 of us for the night but more people started arriving at 4am", he said.
