A TEAM from the Cherry Tree Nursery will be running off their mince pies in an annual Wimborne charity event.

The Great Santa Fun Run, organised each year by members of Wimborne Rotary, will take place once again at Badbury Rings on December 14.

And this year, a group from the Bournemouth-based nursery will participate in the festivity.

Runners will raise money for their chosen cause, but the entry fee will also include a donation to Julia's House.

Jane Nicholls from Cherry Tree Nursery said: “We have had such good times over the last five years at the Rotary Santa Fun Run and have raised more than £2,000, which has been used to support adults with severe and enduring mental illness at our charity in Northbourne.

“We are all looking forward to it again. This year the money raised will go towards marking our 25th anniversary.”

The sixth annual fun run is sponsored by the Rotary Club's business partners, and entry is £10 for adults or £6 for children aged eight to 14.

It includes a Santa suit to keep.

Participants can walk or run, and dog-owners can even bring their pets along for the two or four mile course.

Wimborne Rotary president Derek Radley said: “Our fun run is now firmly established on the Wimborne festive calendar.

“We are looking to add to the £35,000 raised for good causes over the past five years.”

The event will begin at 11am, preceded by a warm-up at 10.30am.
