POOLE’S Twin Sails Bridge will be closed to all traffic and pedestrians overnight from 10pm tonight.
The closure will allow the completion and commissioning of a minor modification to the hydraulics system, which could not be completed when the bridge was closed in April for planned maintenance.
John Rice, engineering manager, Borough of Poole, said: "The work will require the bridge to be lifted a number of times for testing.
“By closing the bridge to highway users overnight we will be able to minimise disruption to the public. We will still be able to lift the bridge to allow any vessels to pass, so there will be no disruption to maritime traffic. We are sorry for any inconvenience this work may cause.”
Poole Bridge will operate as normal throughout the closure and the two bridge lifting system will resume operation from Thursday morning.
