This year’s Swanage Regatta and Carnival raised £22,000 for charities and good causes, it has been announced.
Hundreds of thousands of spectators packed out the seaside town this summer for the eight-day event that was later hailed a ‘massive success’ by organisers.
This year’s main donations go to the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, the Swanage Stroke Club, Forest Holme Hospice and The Swanage RNLI Boathouse Appeal. Each of these organ-isations received at least £2,000 at a presentation ceremony.
Swanage Carnival 2014 chair-man Chris Tomes said: “It is always such a pleasure to be able to give away the money raised by carnival to so many charities and good causes.”
