TWO people charged with slavery offences have appeared at Dorchester Crown Court.

David Porter, 63, and Mary Turner, 61, both of Bere Road, Cold Harbour, Wareham, did not enter pleas to four counts of holding another person in slavery or servitude.

They have previously indicated they will be entering not guilty pleas.

The pair have also indicated they will be denying a charge of failing to notify the authorities of a change in circumstances which would affect entitlement to benefits.

The slavery charges relate to four alleged victims, two men and two women.

The case will next be heard at Bournemouth Crown Court on January 15, when the defendants – who were both released on conditional bail - will be expected to enter pleas.

A four to six week trial window has also been identified at Bournemouth Crown Court in July next year.
