MORE than 80 people were charged with drink driving in Dorset as part of a summer crackdown by police.

Dorset Police said 64 men and 23 women were charged with drink driving offences during the campaign between June 1 and July 31 this year, through a combination of roadside checks and breathalysing drivers involved in collisions.

Here are the latest people who have appeared in court. 

Bournemouth Echo:

Samuel William Dean, 29, of Claremont Avenue, Bournemouth. Admitted driving a Renault Trafic van in West Way on June 29 with 81 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. Fined £380 at Bournemouth Magistrates Court. To pay victim surcharge of £38.

Disqualified from holding a driving licence for 20 months.

Bournemouth Echo:

Justine Diane Mulford, 24, of Gainsborough Close, Salisbury.

Admitted driving a Vauxhall Astra in Ashley Road, Bournemouth, on July 15 with 62 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. Fined £150 at Bournemouth Magistrates Court.

To pay victim surcharge of £20.

Costs £85. Disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 17 months.

Bournemouth Echo:

Michael Richard Jedrusik, 26, of Ashley Road, Poole. Admitted driving a Vauxhall Vectra at St Johns Road, Bournemouth, on July 20 with 46 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. Fined £240 at Bournemouth Magistrates Court. Costs of £85. Disqualified from holding a driving licence for 12 months.

Also admits driving above vehicle without third party insurance.

Fined £140. To pay victim surcharge of £20. Also admits failing to surrender to custody having been released on bail in criminal proceedings. Fined £100.

Bournemouth Echo:

Sandra Elizabeth Mankin, 52, of Coombe Valley Road, Weymouth. Admitted driving a vehicle on July 16 after consuming so much alcohol that the proportion of it in breath was 130 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

Community order made at Weymouth Magistrates Court with alcohol treatment requirement, supervision requirement and requirement to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work within the next 12 months. Ordered to pay costs of £85. Disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 32 months.

Bournemouth Echo:

Gary Keytes, 33, of Douglas Road, Weymouth. Admitted driving a vehicle on July 17 when alcohol level above limit, consuming so much alcohol that the proportion of it in breath was 73 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

Fined £100 at Weymouth Magistrates Court and ordered to pay £85 costs. Disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 16 months. Also admitted to possessing a quantity of a class B drug. Fined £50. Also admitted breaching a suspended sentence order of 22 weeks imprisonment suspended for 12 months.

Bournemouth Echo:

Mark Hodge, 49, of Salway Drive, Bridport, admitted to driving while intoxicated and was disqualified for 20 months at Weymouth Magistrates Court.

The court heard a police officer noticed Hodge got out of his vehicle when they were tending to an incident at 4pm on Saturday, July 26 on St. Swithuns Road.

The officer said Hodge’s breath smelt like alcohol and his speech was slurred. A breathalyser test measured 114mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath, over three times the legal limit. Hodge was ordered to attend a rehabilitation course and to pay £635 in fines and costs.

Robert Campbell, 53, of Harveys Close, Dorchester, admitted driving over the legal limit, failing to stop after an accident and failing to report an accident.Weymouth magistrates heard that on Saturday, July 26, Campbell reversed a silver Land Rover into a wall at a swimming pool car park in Knightsdale Road. Campbell had a woman and two children in the vehicle with him and was staying at a holiday park in Weymouth. Police were alerted about the damage caused in the incident and tracked the Land Rover back to the holiday park finding ‘considerable damage’ to the rear bumper. A breathalyser test found a reading of 74mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath. He was banned for 20 months and fined a total of £500 for the three offences, and ordered to pay £85 costs and £30 victim surcharge.
