A police pursuit took place on Saturday evening in the Ferndown area after a car failed to stop for officers.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said the vehicle, a white Range Rover estate, had failed to stop on the Haskins roundabout in the Longham area around 8.05pm.
Officers, and the police helicopter, pursued the vehicle and it came to a stop further on by Sainsbury's on Ringwood Road in Ferndown three minutes later.
The spokesperson could not confirm if anyone had been arrested and said enquiries are ongoing.
On Sunday morning, a force spokesperson said the driver had left the scene, abandoning the vehicle.
He is still 'outstanding' they confirmed.
A tweet from NPAS Bournemouth, the account of the police helicopter, said: "20:05 assisting the @DorsetNoExcuse team with a search for a suspect. Areas cleared for officers. Enqs continue."
