An unexploded bomb was set to be destroyed in a controlled explosion at Peverill Point last night - but it turned out to be a false alarm.
The device was reported almost two weeks ago - but was inaccessible until Saturday's springs tide.
The area was cordoned off by Swanage coastguards since 4pm on Saturday afternoon and the Navy explosive ordinance disposal team was also called.
The 'device' turned out to be a pipe and the teams were stood down.
