AN inquest is expected to be opened and adjourned this week into the death of a 68-year-old man who died after being involved in a collision with a car in Poole.

The Poole man, who has not yet been named by police, died in hospital on Sunday, after being involved in the collision at the recently-revamped Constitution Hill/Ashley Road junction on Friday evening.

Dorset Police say the pedestrian was in collision with a red Vauxhall Adam hatchback at 9.30pm.

Borough of Poole will be working with police to determine if the road layout contributed to the accident in any way.

Residents, using the Daily Echo website, have criticised the mini roundabout, which has three pedestrian crossings on each approach, as being dangerous and confusing for motorists.

Police have appealed for witnesses to the accident. Contact PC 1027 Andrew Fields on 101, quoting incident number 17:494.
