AN INJURED man was punched and hit with his own crutch as he sat on a bench in Poole.

The 35-year-old from the town was attacked by two men at around 6.15pm on Saturday, October 11, in Wimborne Road near the Co-Op store as he rested on a bench.

The victim, who was using crutches at the time after fracturing his foot, was punched by one man, while the other hit him over the head with his crutch in what police have called a “cowardly and unprovoked” attack. He needed hospital treatment for minor injuries.

Both offenders are described as being white, aged in their early 30s and of medium build. One is described as having brown hair and the other has short dark hair. One was said to be wearing a red top.

PC Jason Pope, of Poole police, said: “This was an unprovoked and cowardly attack on a vulnerable man.
