A REVAMPED Christchurch Chamber of Trade and Commerce will be celebrated at a special launch event today.

With a new logo, executive committee, website and social media policy, the Chamber’s new direction is being spearheaded by president Stephen Bowden, pictured right.

He said the organisation had re-evaluated their objectives during the recent overhaul and now had a very clear view of what they wanted to become.

The new objectives include securing more business and promotion for the town, progressing commercial and technical education and supporting fair principles of trading for members. Regarding membership, he said they were striving to increase the numbers, which have remained stable over the past few years.

“Currently we have 130 members of varying sizes,” he said.

“We need to be seen as approachable, hence we have changed our website and included more social media interaction.”

Recently, the most important issue the Chamber has tackled was the parking situation in Christchurch – successfully campaigning for a £1 for two hours rate in the town.
