STAFF and students enjoyed two major celebration events at Brockenhurst College.

A special dinner was held to mark the end of the college’s centenary year, followed 24 hours later by the annual gala awards evening.

The first event saw nearly 50 guests enjoy a meal prepared by top local chefs, assisted by Brock’s hospitality students.

A silent auction was held, which raised £1,800 towards the creation of a new Centenary Centre at the college.

Chairman of the Brock Old Students Association, Melvyn Cole, said: “What a glorious end to such a special year for the college – we are delighted to have been involved.”

At the second event, students were presented with awards ranging from maths, practical learning and apprenticeships to sports, performing arts and science.

Representatives from many local businesses attended and the Chewton Gen hotel, which works closely with the college, was named Employer of the Year at the event.

Hotel managing Director Andrew Stembridge said: “We are committed to supporting the development of a talented workforce in our industry and working with Brockenhurst College and its students enables us to ensure a high level of quality and relevance in employee training.”

College Principal Di Roberts said: "I congratulate all our students. I know they will make a real contribution to our society and become outstanding ambassadors for the college.”
