A COMPANY which shut up shop suddenly in Poole earlier this week is set to be liquidated.

Coastal Aluminium Ltd, based at Sterte Road, is the main title sponsor of the Poole Pirates speedway team.

It closed on Monday, leaving neighbouring businesses in the dark about what had happened.

Now an official notice has been posted, confirming that the company is set to go into liquidation.

A meeting of creditors will be held today at 11.15am, at the Roundhouse Hotel, 1 Meyrick Road, at Bourne-mouth’s Lansdowne.

The meeting has been called under Sections 99-101 of the Insolvency Act, which deal with the appointment of liquidators to deal with a company’s assets.

The company’s affairs are being handled by London chartered accountants MHA MacIntyre Hudson.

Coastal Aluminium’s registered office is at Aviation Business Park, Christchurch.

It began trading in 1971 and its website describes it as being ‘one of the most extensive and respected operations in the industry’.

“When you choose Coastal Aluminium products you are buying from a British company whose status goes back over 30 years.

“The company is acclaimed within the industry, not only for the range and quality of products, but also for their commitment to customer satisfaction,” it says.

Coastal Aluminium became the main title sponsor of Poole Pirates after signing a six-figure deal in 2012, worth more than £200,000.

An employee from another business at Sterte Close said earlier this week: “I would say that about 25 to 30 people work there.

“On Monday, all of the staff came out of the building and just left, with no explanation given to us.”

Another worker from a unit on the industrial estate added: “It’s all been shut up since earlier this week and somebody came and changed the locks.

“One minute they were here and the next they were gone, but everything actually inside appears to remain untouched.”
