DORSET Fire & Rescue Service is set to hold three recruitment evenings in a bid to attract on-call firefighters into the profession.
Local residents are being asked to consider a career as a retained firefighter, as 19 of the county’s 26 fire stations are crewed 24-hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year by on-call personnel who live and work nearby.
Recruitment evenings will be held at fire stations in Swanage, Wareham and Shaftesbury.
Dorset Area Fire Commander Craig Baker said: “This is a great opportunity for anyone who is interested in joining the retained fire service to come along and have an informal chat.
“We are currently looking to recruit individuals who can provide cover in these station areas, in particular during the day.”
For more information on becoming a retained firefighter at any of Dorset’s retained stations, pop along and meet the crew or look at dorsetfire.gov.uk.
Recruitment evenings take place at Shaftesbury fire station, 7-9pm, Tuesday, September 23; Wareham fire station, 8am-8pm, Tuesday, September 30; Swanage fire station, 7-9pm, Tuesday, October 14.
