NEARLY 90 people have been charged with a drink or drug driving-related offence as part of Dorset Police's summer crackdown. Today we name 11 more drivers who have faced the courts.
The campaign ran from Sunday 1 June 2014 to Thursday 31 July 2014 and was extended for the first time to include the FIFA World Cup.
A total of 87 people aged between 18 and 67 were charged with a drink or drug driving-related offence. Of these 64 were men and 23 were women.
During the campaign police increased traffic patrols and roadside checks and every driver involved in a collision throughout June and July was breath tested.
Ian Smith, 39, of Camarthen, Wales, was charged on 12 July 2014 with driving a motor vehicle when alcohol level above limit. He was banned from driving for 18 months, handed a £400 fine and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £40 victim surcharge. (Bournemouth Mags July 28).
Mark Taylor, 42, of Capstone Place, Bournemouth, was charged on 13 July 2014 with driving a motor vehicle when alcohol level above limit. He was banned from driving for 24 months, handed a £520 fine and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £52 victim surcharge. (Bournemouth Mags July 28).
Gary Stevens, 40, of Tolpuddle Gardens, Bournemouth, was charged on 13 July 2014 with driving a motor vehicle when alcohol level above limit. He was banned from driving for 14 months, handed a £370 fine and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £37 victim surcharge. (Bournemouth Mags July 28).
Marius Paduraru, 33, of East Street, Blandford Forum, was charged with driving a BWM in Dorset Way, Poole, on June 22 while over the limit (58 microgrammes in 100ml breath), also without a licence or insurance. He was banned from driving for 14 months, handed a £150 fine and ordered to pay costs of £50 and a victim surcharge of £20. (Bournemouth Mags July 28).
Alesandra Marra, 66, of Canford Cliffs Road, Poole, was charged on July 8 with driving a Jeep in Castle Lane East, Bournemouth, while over the limit (42 microgrammes in 100ml breath) and he appeared before Bournemouth Magistrates’ Court on July 24. He pleaded guilty and was fined £200, with £85 costs and £20 victim surcharge, and was banned from driving for 12 months.
Matthew Ambridge, 30, of Hillside Drive, Christchurch, was charged on August 1 for driving a motor vehicle when alcohol level above limit. He was banned from driving for 18 months, handed a £100 fine and ordered to pay costs of £85 and a £20 victim surcharge. (Bournemouth Mags Aug 18).
Richard Cooper, 30, of Bournemouth Road, Poole, was charged with driving a Toyota in Durley Road, Bournemouth, while over the limit (61 microgrammes in 100ml breath) on July 17 and appeared at Bournemouth Magistrates’ Court on August 4. He pleaded guilty and was fined £260, with £85 costs and a £26 victim surcharge, and was banned from driving for 17 months.
Lloyd Joseph McGrath, 41, of Crane Drive, Verwood, was charged with driving a Fiat Bravo in Cranborne Road, Wimborne, while over the limit (94 microgrammes in 100ml breath) on July 19 and appeared at Bournemouth Magistrates’ Court on August 4. He pleaded guilty and was given a one year community order with an unpaid work requirement, ordered to pay costs of £85 and a £60 victim surcharge, and banned from driving for 23 months.
Jake Ring, 18, of Winkton Green, Winkton, Christchurch, was charged with driving a Peugeot 206 in Exeter Crescent, Bournemouth, while over the limit (51 microgrammes in 100ml breath) on July 25 and appeared at Bournemouth Magistrates’ Court on August 11. He pleaded guilty and was fined £110, with £85 costs and a £20 victim surcharge, and was banned from driving for 12 months.
Pravin Rana, 26, of Stone Gardens, Bournemouth, was charged with driving a Volkswagen Bora in Woodbury Avenue, Bournemouth, while over the limit (73 microgrammes in 100ml breath) on July 18 with driving a motor vehicle when alcohol level above limit and is due to appear at Bournemouth Magistrates’ Court on August 4. He pleaded guilty and was fined £320, with £30 costs and a £32 victim surcharge, and was banned from driving for 19 months.
Martin David Williams, 56, of Walton Road, Poole, was charged with driving a Renault Traffic motor caravan in Walton Road, Bournemouth, while over the limit (93 microgrammes in 100ml breath) on July 22 and appeared at Bournemouth Magistrates’ Court on August 11. He pleaded guilty and was fined £610, with £85 costs and £61 victim surcharge, and was banned from driving for 23 months.
