IT could be the fastest free outdoor WiFi in the world. And it’s right on our doorstep in Bournemouth.

Thanks to the people at Fusion WiFi and Bournemouth Council the super speedy WiFi service will be available in the Triangle, the Gardens, Bournemouth Square, Pier Approach and for 500m either side of both Bournemouth and Boscombe piers.

It will offer speeds of up to one gigabit.

Adam Troman, managing director of FusionWiFi said: “We are delighted to be bringing free gigabit public WiFi to Bournemouth.

“After 18 months in the planning, we are pleased to deliver a service we believe will be the world’s fastest outdoor free WiFi network.

“Our network will help Bournemouth Borough Council attract and engage with more visitors, encouraging more business to be done in the town and helping the local economy thrive.

“When fully installed, it is intended that the network will expand to cover more of the town. By growing the network, we hope to build one of the most powerful free WiFi networks further enhancing Bournemouth’s digital economy.

“FusionWiFi's platform allows users to access free WiFi via their social media account, making the login process quicker and easier than most other systems.”

Cllr Mike Greene, cabinet member for corporate policy and strategy at Bournemouth council, said: “We are very excited to be bringing an ultra fast and free public WiFi service to the town centre, gardens and seafront. The service is currently in a testing period to ensure a high quality experience and will be officially launched in September in readiness for people visiting the town’s Arts Festival.

“Our collaboration with FusionWiFi and CityFibre to bring this free WiFi service to Bournemouth is a major step forward in enhancing digital services and building a prosperous and connected town.

“We are confident that it will add to the positive experience of the town and help to generate business by encouraging people to stay in the town for longer.”
