THE Great Dorset Steam Fair is rolling into the county tomorrow.

Running until Sunday, this year’s event in Tarrant Hinton will have a special focus on the 100th anniversary of the start of the Great War.

A display will include tractors, field guns, a tank, heavy artillery as well as steam engines and a plethora of other exhibits.

The fair’s managing director, Martin Oliver, pictured, said the display had been carefully compiled and hopes visitors find it interesting and informative.

He added: “With 2014 marking 100 years since the outbreak of the Great War it is fitting that the Great Dorset Steam Fair marks this special anniversary with our own tribute display.”

The fair, known as the National Heritage Show, is one of the leading events of its type in the world and showcases national industrial and agricultural history in a blend of nostalgia and live entertainment.

Organisers boast that everything that was great in British engineering can be seen at the fair.

There will be 200 working steam engines on show with around 2,000 other working exhibits.

Among these other exhibits will be vintage cars, lorries, military vehicles, tractors, stationary engines, motorcycles, bikes and at the bottom of the show field even working heavy horses.

More than 500 trade stands will also feature, providing a variety of goods to purchase.

There will also be five entertainment pavilions, each with its own programme of live music and range of national and local beers and ales.
