THE Mayor of Poole was joined by representatives from 14 different charities during the first Poole Bay Sponsored Walk.
Cllr Peter Adams was on-hand to officially launch the event, which covered nine miles from Baiter to Branksome Chine and back, as organised by the Rotary Club.
Rotarian, Don Nutt, who thought up the event, said: “We are approached by many charities asking for our help during the year. By setting up this walk, we have been able to offer supporters of different organisations the chance to raise money for their favourite charity, while enjoying some of the best scenery in Poole.”
Among the charities involved were Lewis-Manning Hospice, Diverse Abilities Plus, Poole Lions, Poole Hospital Charity and Parkstone Sea Cadets.
Tesco supported the event by providing bottled water at various refreshment points along the routes and Don says that plans are already being made to organise the walk for 2015.
