ORGANISERS of Dorset Steam Fair are warning visitors there will only be one temporary mobile phone mast this year.

The event (pictured), which begins next week on August 27, will only have a temporary O2 mast. There will be no EE or Vodafone mast.

All visitors are advised to make sure they use the designated meeting points to meet family and friends and do not rely on a guaranteed mobile signal during the event.

There will be five help points with a public payphone in use.

Mike Hayes from Vodafone said they will ensure the maximum capacity signal is available at surrounding sites and make teams aware of the dates of the event to monitor it closely.

A spokesperson for EE said: “We regret that we’re not able to provide enhanced coverage to the steam festival, which unfortunately falls outside of our extensive list of major events we’re able to cover.”
