POOLE Libraries are celebrating their 128th birthday this August Bank Holiday with the launch of a new eBook collection.

The collection has 547 eBooks in total – the same number of books that were in the original Poole Library on Lagland Street when it opened in August 1886.

Their arrival will be marked on Friday when library visitors will be encouraged to find out how to download eBooks to their tablets, eReaders or mobile phones.

There will also be the chance to enter a competition to win an eReader.

Library members can access the eBooks online at anytime. They include popular fiction and nonfiction genres, all arranged in themed bookshelves.

Cllr Xena Dion, cabinet portfolio holder for a prosperous, sustainable and active Poole, pictured, said: "Our fantastic libraries already offer a wonderful collection of books and the introduction of the eBooks will make it even easier for our residents to borrow their latest reads.”
