A MAJOR route through Dorset was closed for hours this afternoon after a serious accident.

A car towing a boat was involved in the crash on the A350 Lower Blandford Road and the road was shut in both directions between Foot’s Hill and the A30 Christy’s Lane and B3091 Salisbury Road.

The crash happened near to the Cann bridge turn-off.

A Dorset Police spokesman said that officers were called at 12.05pm and that the car and trailer had ended up on their sides.

No other vehicles were involved and it is not thought that there are any serious injuries, although one person was injured.

Nobody was trapped in the vehicle, said Dorset Fire and Rescue Service, but fire crews were called to help make the scene safe.

Clearing the scene took much of the afternoon due to the nature of the crash.

Ophiilum You idiot.

2 people were injured. One was taken to hospital by air ambulance, one by road.

And before you ask, I live just up the road and watched the whole thing unfold. Regardless of which all this info is available on other websites.

Try doing some research before making banal comments........

Errr no they aren't... They have to work with all the over the top "sue me" protection rules that are ruining businesses everywhere. They probably feel the same frustrations. Blame the greedy claim brigade not the police. However, the a350 is busier at the moment due to the suspiciously long closure of Melbury Abbas!! Strange the road is still not open after six months of this route through wingealot village.

Why is it idiotic? Headline says serious crash but the story would appear that it wasnt, so which is it? People comment on the story as written, if reporters cant report correctly what's the point. Readers shouldn't have to read other news forums just to get the correct information.
