POLICE say they are becoming “increasingly concerned” for the welfare of a missing Wimborne man.

Officers have released a picture of 54-year-old David Button, who was last seen by his son at his home address in the St Leonard's area at 3pm yesterday.

He was reported missing at 10:04pm on the same day.

David left a note saying he was going for a walk but he has not been seen since.

He enjoys hiking and walking the coastal paths and may be some distance from his home address, police said.

David left without taking any of his personal possessions and he has not taken his car.

Force Incident Commander, Debbie Marsden, said: “David’s disappearance is out of character.

“Everyone who knows him is very worried and would like to find him as soon as possible.

“Officers, including dog units, are presently conducting an extensive search of the surrounding area.

“I ask anyone who knows the whereabouts of David, or David himself, to make contact with someone – we just need to know that you are safe and well.

“Anyone with information should contact the police urgently on 101.”

David is described as white, around 6ft tall and of slim build. He has short grey hair, is clean shaven and was last seen wearing a dark blue polo shirt, dark tracksuit trousers and Salomon walking trainers.

Anyone with information or knowledge as to David’s whereabouts should call Dorset Police on 101, quoting incident number 07:540.
