A HOLIDAYMAKER was airlifted from a Swanage beauty spot this morning after falling on rocks.
The 58-year-old man from London was airlifted to Poole emergency unit after the incident at Peveril Point around 11.35am.
South West Ambulance was called but could not get to the casualty so Portland Coastguard Helicopter was scrambled to the scene.
Swanage RNLI were also called.
Jenny Southeran, who had been on a visit to the new lifeboat station at Swanage when the call came in, said the man was on the last day of this holiday with his wife.
“We just walked along the coastal path and the staff had already gone ahead and they had taken the first aid”, she said.
“The man’s wife was there wondering how they were going to go home.
“She went in the helicopter but I think it was a bit of a shock for her and him.
“They’d been climbing at Kimmeridge but had decided to walk up here today.
“He’d lost his footing when he went a bit higher.”
The man suffered a suspected broken leg in the incident.
