A TALENTED young singer raised £1,000 for good causes through a charity concert.

Alicia Mallace-Goulbourne gave a recital, called A Classical Summer Afternoon, at St Mary’s Church in Ferndown.

The aim was to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society and St Mary’s Church’s Beacon Project, which aims to combat loneliness by creating a social space for the Ferndown community.

Alicia, from Ferndown, recently finished her music degree at the University of Sussex. Her performance, with father Peter as accompanist, included pieces by Purcell, Mozart, Schubert, Wagner and Puccini, as well as a duet with her sister Lucinda. It was followed by a silent auction.

Thanks went to all the local businesses and individuals who donated items for the auction and the family, friends and church community who helped her so that every penny could go to charity.
