THE new chairman of the New Forest and Hampshire County Show has praised the ‘fabulous’ atmosphere at this year’s event.

Chris Whitlock spoke out as thousands of people poured into New Park, Brockenhurst, on Thursday for the third and final day of the show.

At least 95,000 spectators from across the south are expected to have visited the Daily Echo backed event before the gates close this evening.

Many have praised the relaxed atmosphere at this year’s show and Mr Whitlock was quick to agree.

“It’s been the most fabulous atmosphere,” he said.

“It’s been very relaxed and the ambiance has been first class.

“Lots of people have had a happy time.”

Mr Whitlock praised the vast array of attractions at the showground, which features more than 3,000 animals as well as shopping pavilions, craft shows and 50 ‘Hands-On’ activities.

“So many facets come together at the show,” he said.

“I’m a livestock man, it’s wonderful to see so many sheep, pigs and cattle on the showground.

“I also love the countryside area and the discovery zone. It’s really great to see kids enjoying themselves.”

My Whitlock has taken over Geoff Morgan, who was chairman for many years.
