INQUESTS have been opened and adjourned into the deaths of a motorcyclist and dog walker who died following a collision on the Weymouth Way on Saturday.

The coroner for Dorset, Sheriff Payne, was told how 63-year-old Janice Short and 23-year-old motorcyclist James Fryman, known as Max, both died at the scene after suffering multiple injuries.

Coroner’s officer Allan Young told the court Mrs Short was attempting to cross the road with her husband near Chafeys Roundabout when the collision took place at around 5pm.

Mr Young said: “Whilst crossing the road she was struck by a motorcycle travelling north along the same road ridden by Mr James Fryman.

“Both Mr Fryman and Mrs Short were seriously injured and both died at the scene.”

Dr Simon Rasbridge, consultant pathologist at Royal Bournemouth Hospital, reported the provisional causes of death for both Mrs Short Mr Fryman as multiple injuries pending toxicology tests.

Dorset Police is continuing its investigations into the collision.

Mr Payne adjourned both inquests until December to enable further enquiries to be made.
