FOUR crashes caused disruption on roads around Bournemouth and Poole this morning.

Emergency services were first called after a teenager was struck by a car in Charminster Road outside the Co-op around 8.10am.

The pedestrian, believed to be male, suffered minor injuries to the stomach and was treated at the scene.

The road was closed between Maxwell Road and St Alban's Avenue.

Shortly after, a cyclist was taken to hospital with shoulder and head injuries, following a collision with a car.

The incident took place on Bournemouth Road in Parkstone and the cyclist was taken to Poole Hospital.

Two elderly people were also treated for minor injuries after their Vauxhall Cavalier collided with a white Ford Transit van on the Cooper Dean roundabout around 9.20am.

Police were called to deal with traffic as the vehicles were blocking the road.

A spokesperson for South West Ambulance said there were two casualties in their eighties, one male and one female.

They were described as "walking wounded" and the road was cleared just after 10am.

A motorcyclist was also taken to hospital after a crash with a car in Talbot Road at the junction with Wimborne Road in Bournemouth.

The male biker suffered head injuries and was taken to Poole Hospital.

The driver of the red Ford Fiesta had minor injuries.

The road was closed at Winton Banks and the roads reopened around 10.40am.

There are some roundabouts that are marked out to allow that you know.

So why is it when we are being taught to drive we're told left lane to the left to turn left, any after the midway & towards the right side is to turn right?

That bit of Charminster Road is almost always blocked by buses/vans/couriers/
delivery lorries. It's a nightmare to drive around so it must be tricky to cross when a pedestrian decides not to use the traffic lights....

It's not hard. If there are no road markings that would be true but there are roundabouts where the road markings indicate that the left lane can be used to turn right. Normally the case when the right turn also has two lanes. Unfortunately many people seem to ignore the big white lines painted on the road.

Exactly, white lines, a big arrow painted on the road and a sign at the roadside all stating that the left lane is to turn right also, yet people in the right lane still cut you up by drifting across and act like you're the one in the wrong. Also how come about 50% of drivers can't read the words "keep clear" painted in big letters? Are they illiterate or just plain dumb?

They wont go to built up areas as although more people are involved in accidents they are not always breaking the speed limit so cant earn them any money! Its best for them to sit on corners of perfectly safe dual carriageways to maximise their income

What about the drivers taking more care and slowing down. Hardly the Police's fault if someone drives like a numpty. The driver is choosing to drive that way.
